The Club was founded in 1937. The recently refurbished Club house was the home of Louis Marks of the famous mining family and is now a national monument. The Riviera Resort Country Club is renowned for its notorious 14th hole which is played over a bend in the Klip River and overlooks the Riverfront leisure complex.

For Gentlemen the 6589 m course is a Par 72 and for the Ladies the 5523 course is a Par 73. The complex offers a choice of 6 restaurants, 2 nightclubs, tenpin bowling, river cruises, traditional pub, and a fleamarket.
