Erinvale, host to the 1996 World Cup of Golf this golf course has moods to try even the most professional golfer. The front nine holes at Erinvale are mainly flat with strategically placed water hazards, whilst the back nine at Erinvale are on undulating high ground where the scenic splendor can easily distract the golfer.
Erinvale a Gary Player designed course on the outskirts of Somerset West, just 35 minutes from Cape Town, nestles under the Helderberg and Hottentot Holland Mountains. Close to the Stellenbosch wine routes, a perfect place to start the day with a round of golf before relaxing at the 19th tee, or taking a tour along the wine route sampling the local brew on your way back to Cape Town.
The Erinvale course measures 6485 metre par 72, is open all year round, except January which is reserved for members only. The first nine holes at Erinvale lie in a valley and consist of many bunkers and water hazards. Erinvale's holes 10 to 18 are stretched over mountainous terrain and provide a considerable challenge to the golfer.
Erinvale's modern clubhouse is well laid out and has its own restaurant, the views of the mountains are spectacular, you can also see False Bay. The mountains protect the Erinvale golf course from the Cape Southeaster that blows in this area.
